Interior Engineering. I worked for 5 months at Allied Vehicles design engineering a number of interior parts, trims and tools.
Engineered both the Passenger tip Up seat and centre console. I took an initial design concept for the centre console and engineered it through into production. The seat was designed and engineered from scratch and passed crash simulation testing.
I also designed headrests including holding brackets connecting the headrests to the steel frame.
A small team of 4 engineers used Solidworks to model all of the interior components and multiple checks were made in order to ensure sound fit/assembly.
Cardboard mock-ups of the centre console were used at an early stage to determine the best ergonomic fit for the driver.
