Nike. 2012. NSW Weekender. Design, sourcing and production consultancy.
I worked for Nike until 2005, a fantastic five years at the brand’s European HQ in the Netherlands. I keep in touch with friends there, but had no further professional contact until 2011 when the folks in Beaverton dreamt up a premium, British-made collection to launch at the 2012 London Olympics. Nike wanted someone to pull the project together. They knew all about my previous life, the development, Asian sourcing and mass-production of many hundreds of thousands of sports bags each year, but they’d also been monitoring my development of the Cherchbi brand. I got the job.
My role involved; introductions and a tour of some of the leading British producers; consultations with product designers to ensure their ideas made best use of British materials and manufacturing skills; project managing of the material and manufacturing sourcing, product development and production. Some slides from Nike’s internal presentation tell the story.
The Nike NSW Weekender launched August 2012.
