self-help study enhancer - a rube goldberg inspired "deliriously rational and functional machine" - In a world of Internet, TV and the Sims, students' study habits are rapidly deteriorating. On a weekly average, the American student watches 50 hours of TV and studies for 10. The SHSE implements a study-reward system that allows one to set a reading goal which when completed rewards you with a beverage. Simply insert a book into the metal holder, clip the frame to the 'goal page' and read. Once you have completed your goal, the machine activates and opens the beverage of your choice.
Anti-Planning - a waterfront community for 250,000 - Despite the explosion of the high-tech industry in the Bay Area, San Francisco's population has hardly changed in the last fifty years: its 1950 population of 775,357 is nearly identical to the millennial figure of 776,357. The housing stock is nonetheless threadbare, providing only one unit per every three San Francisco residents; rents, as a result, have skyrocketed. To help San Francisco fulfill its own truncated potential, we propose housing for 250,000 residents in the Central Waterfront.
memory box - The memory box is a game, which acting as a device that uses my childhood memories, facilitates a connection to the viewer’s own memories. The viewer moves the squares around to reveal parts of objects, and these visual suggestions trigger memories within the viewer.
