For this in class exercise, we went through the process of building a business model canvas, the model described in "Business Model You". We used Miami University as our example company.
It was sometimes difficult to figure out which category certain items fit in, and some fit in multiple categories. We didn't have time to go back through the canvas and better organize it, but by just putting our initial ideas down it gave us a good grasp of the types of things that each category warrants. It also helped reinforce to me that businesses have different types of customer segments/partners who have different needs which means they have different items in the other categories such as value proposition and distribution channels.
