Letter Design 4 - The goal was to create a pattern using a single letter. I chose this as a final solution because it plays with your eye, giving the illusion of motion and diagonal line even though your eye is filling in the blanks.
Letter Design 2 - This assignment was to take a letter and design an interesting repetitive pattern. The reason why I liked the lower case g is because its relatively equal in black and white content, yet there is almost a rounded effect to the pattern. The circles of white seem to pull them towards the viewer and the descender of the g is more black than white which gives the illusion of it being farther away from the viewer
Smoke - This assignment was to take a word and to turn it into a literal representation. For smoke, I wanted to push this word to the borderline of un-legible. Smoke doesn't necessarily read well, but because it gives the impression of being written in smoke the viewer is able to read this word with ease.
Drain - The assignment was to choose a word, and use typography to not only write it, but to give it a literal representation. I chose to use the word Drain and to give the impression that the word was being washed into the drain of a bathtub. Through nothing more than the shape and distortion of the letters I was able to bring this message across to the viewer.
March 2010 - GD I Final Project Color Version The project guidelines were to create a calendar, with more emphasis on design than actual functionality. My month was march, which many associate with St. Patrick's Day, so I decided use parts of the calendar to create the mug, bottle, and a green frothy beverage.
