VForm Design Rotary-electric Sports Car Concept
Vform Design Concept study of a mid-engined rotary sports car:
Utilizing an electrically supported turbo and an additional electric motor mounted in line, the 1300 cc two-disc rotary engine gets sufficient support off the line while revving out at over 10000 rpm.
Ultracapacitators are used instead of batteries for short power bursts, while beeing recharged at higher revs.
The estimated 450 hp are sent through a Quaife six-speed sequential transmission.
With an estimated dry weight of less than a ton, the performance should equal modern high-performance cars.
The overall length of 4250mm and a wheel base of 2500mm is fairly short, ensuring „snappy“ handling in combination with the low weight.
The CFRP chassis cockpit tub has titanium-tubed sub-frames front & rear.
Unfortunately the one drawback of the rotary engine has still not been resolved, it´s emissions.
And hence this car will remain a digital concept study of a potentially fun car.
