This is my design for the "toy for toddlers project". We were required to come up with a toy that aids the learning of children between the ages of 2-4 years. I decided to come up with an idea for a bath toy. My rocket toy interacts with water to capture the imagination, help develop gross moter skills and give a general understanding of the movements and flow of liquids. By filling the rocket with water and allowing it to then empty, the propeller is forced to rotate. Cause and effect exercises like this within toys are essential if you wish to retain the childs attention. The toy features many holes under the "jet thruster" of the rocket, and one at the very top of the cone. When you block the hole at the top with your finger, suction holds water within the cavity of the rocket. Then when you unblock the hole the water flows out of the jet thruster. This feature also proves useful for parents when bathing the child as the gentle shower of water is ideal when washing away soap suds.
