Spring 2007, Free version of Artrage and Flash/Animate CC. This was pitch art for a Blue Cross Blue Shield television commercial opportunity. Our inspiration for the look was a beautiful United Airlines commercial where a boy imagines his father battling a dragon while away on a business trip. I created the initial object shapes in Flash and made them into symbols. I then exported outlines of the symbols and imported them onto a layer in Artrage. I then laid down chalk and wash effects under the outlines and exported them back into the Flash symbols, masking off the content outside each shape's perimeter. We got the job, but I have to admit we were not always successful in replicating the nuance and paper texture in some of the ad's many scenes.
