Thanksgiving to Christmas 2016. Primarily in Flash/Animate CC plus Photoshop. This was a very enjoyable commission from a Physician who wanted to give her nephew a special Christmas gift. The author penned a 40 page adventure about a precocious boy and a young phoenix who find the courage needed to protect their world. I identified all of the promising illustration opportunities from the text, developed initial concepts, and then the author and I determined the final list of pictures together. I came up with most of the final concepts, illustrations, character design and graphic design for the cover. There were 9 illustrations which took 145 hours from concept to print-ready, while total time on the project was 171 hours.
