From Episode 3. The principle characters meet up on the forecastle of their sunken pirate ship, the Unsmashable, which serves as their home and clubhouse. I created the landscape and ship - inspired by a Spanish Galleon - and then completed the scene by posing the characters designed by my studio colleagues.
From Episode 2 - "Threetooth's Big Adventure." I enjoyed making the backgrounds for this episode the most. Here, Threetooth scouts the map in the Captain's cabin for new undersea excitements.
Episode 2 - Threetooth overcomes his fear of confronting the bullies terrorizing his friend Inky.
Episode 2 - Having mastered his fears, Threetooth descends into danger.
Episode 2 - The bullies have sidelined our hero for a moment by telling him lies about himself.
Episode 2 - We return to the Unsmashable at night, after a successful, but unintended adventure leaves some important questions unanswered.
Episode 2 - Threetooth seeks knowledge of his true identity from the community's venerable Lion fish amid the beauty and mystery of bio-luminescent life.

Captain McFinn - Cartoon Backgrounds

Fall 2013 - Spring 2016, Almost all Flash/Animate CC. We made about a dozen 5 minute cartoons to enlarge the narrative world of a preschool entertainment property called Captain McFinn. These were produced in conjunction, and integrated with, the creation of an explorative discovery app, "Swim 'n Play." Extending the legacy look of the property, I created a fresh interpretation using bolder colors and dynamic shapes to engage the audience more directly with memorable imagery. The characters were designed by my colleagues, while I did the layouts and painting of all backgrounds and sets based on storyboards.
