Mood board - My take on this project was to create more of a "movie poster" feel than the classic fashion mood board of collage imagery. This collection draws loosely from the infamous femme-fatale. However I wanted to avoid the cliché of the scantily clad, leather seductress. So instead I drew inspiration from the idea of "mystery".

Incognita - F/W 2013

"Incognita" is a play on words derived from the adverb/adjective "Incognito". This collection theme draws loosely from the infamous femme-fatale. I wanted to avoid the cliché of a scantily clad, leather bound seductress. So instead I drew inspiration from the idea of "mystery". My process was to take the unknown, elusive and clandestine, and translate it into something more tangible. I researched concealment, espionage and fears; all of which are rooted in mystery. The premise was to make a woman appear invincibly dangerous without cloaking her in a costumed disguise. Throughout my design process I sought to combine ambiguity with sensuality; likening the billowing vapors of smoke with cascading silk ruffles. Or the contours of a stealth jet fighter interpreted as structured separates and appliqués.
