Opportunity: The designer was to create a useable typeface to be used on cookbook covers. The process involved researching starter faces, determining the x-height, sketching letters, finalizing the hand-drawn characters, digitizing the face, and setting the face in the desired usage.
Solution: Encapsulating the elegance and sophistication of French cuisine, Varenne is a slab serif that is named for the father of the modern cookbook.
