These are concept product icons I developed for all of VMware's major products. The purpose here was to match the new "Clarity" UI visual design refresh for 2016/17 and for all upcoming product upgrades. I really wanted to get completely away from all the abstract icons vmware product are known for and match the visual style of the new UI by creating a monochromatic, flat, and consistent (to the extent possible) set. Through many iterations these are the final icons I created and presented to the director of User Experience. They were very well received, but as of now they have not been implemented. It seems VMware's customers are too familiar with the old product icons to accept such a large change. Also, our new UI updates are moving away from product icon useage all together. Still, I am proud of these designs and believe they are a huge improvement for bringing these products into the current design world.
VMware Horizon This is the final design I created for VMware Horizon. Typically VMware has a strict set of standards in regards to product icons. Since Horizon fell into a new category of end user computing, it was agreed a fresh look was needed. While still trying to keep within the familiarity of vmware, by using the same font and a blue derived from the corporate colors. The inital concept was developed with the horizon team of a cloud coming up from a horizon, but since my desire was to go for a sharp, clean look for the UI design, I went for a highly stylized, representational approach. This is the result, and was well received across the company and is still in use today.
Citrix Receiver - I created the Citrix Receiver product icon for iPhone and iPad
App Streaming for Citrix Receiver
vCenter Big Data Extension. The challenge with this icon was to create an icon for an extension that still resembled the vCenter product icon, while still being a unique and new metaphor.
vCOps - vCloud Operations The challenge with designing VMware product icons is that there are strict guidelines we have set. For example, the metaphors must be abstract, using only squares, circles etc. and not real items such as servers, computer monitors etc. The concept here was to use a familiar element from within vCOps that will still follow the abstract guidelines. Since the plus was assigned as a health badge within the product, I used it to depict the product, while maintaining a consistent look to the existing product line.
vCAC - vCloud Automation Center
vCHS - vCloud Hybrid Service. The challenge with designing VMware product icons is that there are strict guidelines we have set. For example, the metaphors must be abstract, using only squares, circles etc. and not real items such as servers, computer monitors etc. The concept here was to show the vCloud product connecting with vSphere. The blue is often used to imply cloud based products. So the result, is the blue (vCloud) section "plugging in" to vSphere.

Citrix Green Team - I created this logo for a company initiative to be "green". The logo has been seen on promotional items including posters, coffee cups in all break rooms.
Final band logo bass for the garage rock group, The Pretty Faces. The inspiration was to create a look of vintage hand painted sign/logo lettering. I researched old logos, fonts, and chose specific letters that stood out to me. I then created this logo using a combination of custom lettering and existing fonts. This design was specifically designed for the drummer's bass drum.
