Spud Spork

The objective was to design a biodegradable / disposable "spork", with attention to ergonomics, strength and manufacturability. After identifying the fundamental areas of function and ergonomic concern, several iterations of each were considered before selecting the most appropriate combination of features. The end result was a biodegradable potato starch polymer utensil with a break-away tip, a tri-grip neck, rounded edges, and a contoured profile. The design and material are suitable for injection molding, and performed well in FEA analysis for strength.
