This is the initial stages of the Branches design. During this part of the development process the design was very different and focused on providing alternative compositions to suit space & users garments. The design is a series of different components here which are steam bended to form the organic and accurate incisions.
Different compositions can be constructed to keep the user interested and engaged with the unique Branch coat stand. This form makes use of the wall and floor helping to re-introduce the free standing coat stand back into the home environment. This was an essential focus of the brief, “to redesign a traditional piece of furniture”.
Research suggested over time the free standing coat stand has been replaced with the ‘typical and very familiar’ wall mounted stand. The Branch design is ideally focused on large home & hall ways. It would also be an iconic form in work environments as a form of beauty.
