Galaxy Girl_When I asked my 4yr old daughter, Madeline, What she wants to be for Halloween she responded, a "Galaxy Princess"! So I went to work drawing several sketches and had her pick out elements she liked best. Thus, a Galaxy Princess was born! With an exception of wig and tiara, I patterned, sewed, and created everything from her costume, to her futuristic Trick-or-Treat bag, to her space rock'n moon boots!
Puss in Boots_ While searching for unique Halloween costume ideas, I came across some early storybook renderings of classic tale "Puss in Boots". This character concept is a collaboration of several looks. The suit features a breathable mesh substructure hidden under the long fur, this allows air to pass through to the wearer and is non-restrictive in movement. Puss's boots were re-fabricated store bought cowgirl boots. The hat is built out of EVA foam and laminated with flock polyester. The cape, belt, and trick-r-treat bag are all original patterns and sewn by me.
Flying Monkey_ The Wizard of Oz for me will always stand out as a huge inspiration growing up. This Halloween I pay homage to one of the best characters, The Flying Monkeys! Wings are made out of sculpted EVA and individual applied feathers. To support wings I built a decorative harness that laces through the vest. The fur suit is made from a novelty eyelash fur with a breathable weave. I made the tail structure from Ethylene foam tubing which attaches to a plate in the butt area to support the tail from drooping. The Trick R Treat Bag is made from Foam core covered in a basket weave pattern I designed.
Wonder Baby_This is my Daughter's first Halloween Costume I made for her at 3 months. The onesie and bloomers are store bought. The wig I crafted from yarn sewn onto a baby's knit cap for form. The Magic Lasso is a gold metallic boot string. The Power Bands and Booties are Patterned and sewn by me. This is the beginning of our Father/Daughter annual Halloween Costume making tradition!
