JT Leroy - If you know anything about the author of these books, you know that he's lived a troubled, twisted life with his mother. With "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things" I wanted to illustrate how a child might draw his emotions dealing with drugs, prostitution and abandonment.
With Sarah, the story is again written from the child's point of view, but as a truck stop prostitute. I used the Guest Check as the "business card" he/she may leave behind to gain more customers.
