The Gabion Lamps are a personal project which developed out of an old project I completed when studying architecture...
During this project I was asked to investigate a material and its application in modern architecture I came across the Dominus Winery by Herzog and Du Meuron. In this building they use gabions, (baskets full of stones) in the walls. When light enters through these gabion walls, it creates beautiful patterns of scattered light which inspired these two ambient light designs.
