Chick-Inn (Omlet Ltd)
The brief entailed an incubation and
brooding system for chicks.
Initially working collectively to create what we believed to be the best design, our feedback did not
reflect our initial positivity.
We restructured our approach by immersing ourselves in the project as much as possible. As a result I personally kept chicks in order to gain a
more rounded and substantial knowledge of the animals.
Keeping the chicks, yielded vital information that was initially unclear without first-hand observation,
allowing definitive design decisions to be made. Making a working prototype to house the chicks, we then developed and adapted its cardboard construction into a final solid and refined plastic
form. Allowing the chicks to demonstrate the design during our presentation.
Our group project received a score of 90% and won Omlet’s 2013 Student Design Awards.
