MyMediasite is a recording and hosting tool primarily for college lecturers. A desktop application and a web application work in tandem to provide a rich feature set, but a challenging mental model for users.
In a Discovery phase, we conducted a Heuristic Evaluation, Competitive Analysis, and Contextual Inquiries. Then, we came up with several basic framework ideas and workshopped two of them collaboratively with the client. We took the best one and extended it to two key taskflows, tested them in a Cognitive Walkthrough, revised, tested again, and extended them to the rest of the product.
