The concept behind this project was to develop backpacks specifically for school children in the Dominican Republic (DR) and Haiti. Constraints required that we incorporate the use of readily available materials, so that the backpacks could be produced locally. After a couple months of designing, patterning, and prototyping we then traveled to the Dominican Republic to source factories and produce the bags. The attached photos depict the final product. While in the DR our team was also able to help the Architecture Team build a new home for a single mother and her two children.
