I was browsing online for inspiration one day & then I stumbled across an archive of older gaming advertisements.
Something about the nostalgia & edginess of this era in graphic design really spoke to me as a creative. I feel that today we don’t see as much fun & edgy marketing as bold as this. Across my research I found that it wasn’t just Nintendo either, PlayStation,Sony & Xbox were all donning a similar graphic style. Applying humorous yet edgy real world situations to a product that was unrelated yet somehow fit what they were implying. It really stood out to me amongst other plain & boring ads where every page looked the same.
This style is something which I want to incorporate into my workflow more frequently. To create this particular piece I actually used a variety of 3D & Graphic Design techniques. I went at this with a lot more of a freestyle approach which paid off, experimenting with different ideas on how to achieve this effect.
I’m very pleased with this piece.
