I was commissioned by artist Dr.Gabba to create an animation and cover art for his track "SG-177"

I was given the task to direct the project creatively in a way that felt on brand with the type of music Dr.Gabba makes and reaches the target audience.

The direction I took was that of the nostalgic one. I tried to reciprocate that of an early PS1 game in my stylistic choices for the model, colour scheme, typography and animation.

Sticking to a low poly count on the model was key to retaining an early CGI look. Keeping the textures packed into a single 256 x 256 pixel image texture coupled with some clever compositing tricks sold the PS1 effect.
