Macedonia has existed as a country for less than twenty years but its material culture traces its roots to an ancient kingdom. Curator Bobbie Sumberg wished to honor the Museum of International Folk ARt's recently acquired collection of Macedonian women's costume. The resulting exhibition displays 36 dressed mannequins and 26 individual articles of embroidered clothing. Graphic designer, Dawn Manges and I referenced weaving patterns to envision a contemporary, immersive, and high quality design. We also produced modular components that were reused in future exhibitions in the same changing gallery. One intriguing feature was an interactive exhibit where visitors could "feel the weight" of the bridal clothing on display.
