This in-depth exhibition of Indonesian shadow puppets included displays of perforated leather puppets and wood and brass musical instruments. The exhibition offered visitors hands-on activities including a make-your-own puppet station, an area to play real gamelan instruments, and a stage to try your hand as a shadow puppeteer. Touch-screen kiosks provided information about artifacts. The centerpiece of the exhibition was an immersive, shadow puppet performance complete with musical gamelan accompaniment. The visitor could view the performance as the puppeteer or as an audience might in Indonesia with the aid of a two-sided screen projection. Senior Designer Rebecca Shreckengast was the general designer of the gallery as well as schedule and budget manager.
