The Comic Art Indigene exhibition explored aspects of the American Indian creation and consumption of comic art from prehistory to today. Ledger artwork was displayed alongside commercial newspaper comics. Trained comic artists as well as outsider artists were represented in the selection of works. Visitors were invited to try their own hand at making comics by tracing and adding to American Indian pictographs. Designed as a traveling exhibition originating at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the show traveled to the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC.
