Concept and development sketches for the Wholemilk project
Whole milk - With the effects of social change, fathers are no longer the predominant breadwinners and no longer are mothers the predominant caregivers. The family dynamic is changing. Wholemilk is a range of baby care products designed to accommodate this change. The range simplifies the expressing, storing, preparing and giving of breast milk bottle-feeds, making the system inclusive of all family members and carers.
Fridge Box - The bottles slide under gravity to order the milk oldest to newest, ensuring the oldest milk is taken every time and that the bottles don’t need date labelling. This gentle movement reflects the delicate nature of the contents. The unit has an ice pack in the base and forms an enclosed environment to keep the temperature consistently cool. The use of a tambour shutter provides a barrier, protecting other fridge contents from spilling on the milk, gliding backwards to allow easy one-handed removal of the milk.
Yellow Pages - 'In response to the declining use of phone directories Yellow Pages are looking to expand into new markets.' A concept torch – part of a Home Emergency Kit along with a click lighter, wind-up charger and penknife – to be used in emergencies, enabling ‘connections’ to be made.
Make Catalogue 2012 - Lead role in the creation of UWE 2012 product design graduate catalogue. Production of the print-ready, 96 page ‘make’ exhibition catalogue, through graphic design, collation and editing.
