Technical Light Project

Back Ground

Only in 2016 around 152,000 Bank of England counterfeit banknotes were taken out of circulation with a face value of £3.3million. Since 2007 the total number of Bank of England counterfeit banknotes exceeds the face value £66 Billion. This is a common problem faced by all of the countries around the world.

I am to help solve this issue by designing a good quality portable UV light, which warns the user if the bank note is fake or not. I work as a cashier in a supermarket therefore money is constantly being exchanged without the knowledge of the currency being fake or not. To an uneducated eye it is hard to tell a difference between fake or real currency.

My final product should aim to solve this issue by exposing the hidden ultraviolet feature of the bank note.
