Human Modelling of Train Cabs and Train Driver Anthropometrics with respect to signal sighting
Computer modelling can be used to assess a design. At a basic level, a
computer-generated model of the design can be created and mannequins of a
range of sizes can be superimposed. The mannequins can then be
“manipulated” in relation to the environment (e.g. interacting with the controls)
and the system identifies when a movement is outside the realistic range of
movement that is possible by a human. This enables design changes to be
identified, implemented and re-assessed, before the product goes into
production and / or used in an operational setting
