Mohawk’s new Centre for Health Care Simulation -Institute for Applied Health Sciences at McMaster U is an innovative response to ongoing challenges faced by the lack of quality clinical placements for students. The space houses over 25K sf of integrated clinical lab space and supports over 2K students per semester. The centre is an inter-disciplinary learning environment where students develop field and clinical skills as part of an inter-professional team. Students demonstrate skills/competency using technology enhanced simulation with simulated patients. dpai designed a new Ultrasound Simulation Lab, new Cardiovascular Technology Lab, new Accessible Testing Centre, new computer/silent study lab, new integrated/collaborative library (service hub, anatomical model display case, collaborative + solo study areas, meeting rooms, new staff workroom, a new research lab, new point of care demo room, new expanded nurse clinical tutorial space and ADL Lab.
