HOSPITALITY / RESTAURANT - The Port Rotterdam
Europe’s largest port city, Rotterdam, demands a business hotel servicing robust shipyard commerce and growing cultural events industry for Generation X clientele. The Port, points its design attention to the local hero of De Stijl movement, Theo Van Doesburg. Vertical and horizontal lines are brought in with strong metals reflecting tankers and cranes abound. Element of forced perspective is introduced to create open space impressions and satisfy ever art conscious targets. Dark blue represents the color of sky and sea, while providing power, knowledge and integrity suitable for shipping industry. National color of the Netherlands, orange, provides counterbalance of exciting energy and creativity to the space.
