2005_Industrial Design Space
Architectural Design Thesis Project supervised by Prof. Aris Prodromidis.
The primary principles of the design process revolve around the following presumptions concerning the area of object exhibition:
///The users investigate the object in relation to the context.
///The users investigate the context affecting the object.
///The users investigate the context as an object itself.
The building site of the project is in the Ancient Roman Forum district in the center of the city of Thessaloniki. The choice of the site was inspired by the highly contradicting aesthetics of the district – the coexistence of the archeological dig with the modern city environment.
Industrial Design Space manipulates the gallery space paradox : the character and the influence of the exhibition context is omnipresent, even in spaces that try to avoid affecting the object by using plain white volumes of wall and spotlight.
