Mermaid- After - The mermaid platform was based on Sr. Designer, Joanne Baxter's, glass block platform. Due to budget constraints, tile was used as a solution to create an undulating wave for the Mermaid, Atagaris, to ride upon. The design allowed the mermaid sculpture to be a focal point from the hotel entrance and allow the reception desk staff to be able to see into the great room/breakfast area. Atagaris is 10 feet long and 4 feet high and weighs approximately 100 lbs.
Reception Desk Concept Study - Before - This reception desk was based on Sr. Designer, Joanne Baxter's, picture from a residential kitchen. The original desk drawing on the plan was 36" deep and too much of a reach for reception staff and without ADA access. Collaboration with the architect created a design that would follow the new ceiling soffit pattern.
Reception Desk - After - The subcontractor was able to create the desk with the materials specified but unable to create the 4" toekick due to the backlighting of the panels.
Hotel Lobby Seating- Before - This is the specification sent to the manufacturer for the seating in the great room lobby area. The fabric was sent off for a crypton-like finish before being sent to the manufacturer for application.
Hotel Lobby Seating- After - This is the end product after delivery.
Pool Tile Study- Before - This drawing was the final tile design selected to meet the alloted budget.
Pool Tile- After - After a series of studies, this study was chosen and installed as it fit within the budget allotted.
