Byzantine ( 4th to 15th century) The byzantine empire, sometimes referred to as the eastern roman empire, was the continuation of the Roman Empire in the East during Late Antiquity and the Middle ages when its capital city was Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul, originally founded as Byzantium).
It survived the fragmentation and fall of the western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD and continued to exist for an additional thousand years. Here is an Illustration for my designed garment inspired from the Byzantine Era.
In the Byzantine Era, all the garments were draped. Here, the garment is more body covered, inspired from 'the Togas' worn by the people at that time.
The fashion was influenced by oriental elements such as silk and the color purple.
Use of prints, gold threads and intricate designs were a significant part of the Byzantine empire.
