This helmet was briefed at $16.99 which means it had to be made as cheap as possible, but on top of that, marketing wanted it to have lots of ventilation and for the cap to have a lower coverage. In order to do this it normally cost more money, but I came up with the idea of tooling the hardbody cap from the sides instead of the top which gave us both, and didn't cost us much more. The design became more interesting as well, with the foam being exposed in the middle of the helmet. It had to be easy for manufacturing as well, so on top of making it easy to tool, putting it together got easier when we made the strapping hangers all the same. Overall, I think this customer got a killer looking helmet that looks more expensive than it is.
