In my work I like to play with the idea of a "Photographic Truth." Even in this modern age where Photoshop has gone from software to verb, looking at a photograph still registers as real to us. While many images are photoshopped to be something different, there is usually still a measure of truth to them, despite the technology and talent available to alter these "truths."With my panoramas I like to combine images from slightly different views into one final photograph. When the images are combined they warp the subject into an impossibility, often disorienting the viewer as the brain tries to rationalize what it's seeing. Often my pieces have two horizon lines; they create the feeling of looking up and down, forwards and backwards, and right side up and upside down at the same time, creating a beauty out of confusion.
