Motorla i1 Interface
The i1 is Motorola's first Push-To-Talk Smartphone. We worked with the Motorola team to develop the user experience from the ground up, covering functionality across all core applications for this Android-based solution. The result is a streamlined device with a fresh take on multi-tasking, combined with the rugged dependability PTT users have come to know.
The core challenge of this effort was the translation of what had been a physical-key-dominant set of interactions into a touchscreen device. The world of Push-To-Talk has some unique qualities that don't easily align with what one might consider best practices in standard telephony.
Because we weren't able to rely on existing Motorola guidelines to define the experience, we had the opportunity to create many unique and first-to-market interactions.
Project completed with the Earlybird team. Visual design by Motorola's Andrew Thompson.
