Stanford Avenue 2013 - Oakland
A retired Train Port, Vaulted Warehouse Station converted to 3.5-Story Work/Live with interior Loft. Located at the corner of a three way street, Powell, Lowell Street and Stanford Ave, the wedge lot spanning full length from street end to end. The design encompassed a single narrow mono-driveway entry and exit at the other, under seeing the sheer full height story above outlined by the vertical translucent plastic polygal and skylight stairway shaft. New construction of 2-Story attached building addition facing the main street on Powell Street, repeating frosted polygal with skylight back-light highlighting the entry. Our designer encased within two phases that lead to maximum 9 units on a wedge lot thus, allowed for creative brainstorming resulting in floating box volumes above a CMU perimeter wall.
