Form Table

This project started with the classic brief of making a table and chair form a single piece of 4’x 8’ sheet of plywood. Inspiration for my design came from a chair made by British designer Gerald Summers. Gerald designed his beautiful chair back in 1934 and he himself was inspired by Alvar Aalto’s bent plywood chairs of the same decade. I have used a lattice hinge to allow for an adjustable desk angle. The calculations of the amount of waste revile that there is 0.795% waste material after forming the table.
