Designing a device that has unlimited applications was a welcomed challenge to the MF Design team. The beauty of the perfectly round PCB board was our inspiration for the shape of the device and developing a product that was both durable and attractive to the wide range of age of people that use the device was our main aim. We imagined the device being worn as a watch, clipped on to your clothing or simply put in your pocket, but becoming an object you didn’t have to hide.
The Firefly Ice is an open source wearable / Internet of Things platform. The device has: ARM processor, Bluetooth, micro USB, 3-Axis Accelerometer, 3-Axis Magnetometer, Temperature Sensor, Rechargeable Lithium battery, 5 LED indicators and is no bigger than a match box. With so much technology and the open source platform the Firefly has an endless list of applications. Think open source Nike Fuel band.
