Amtrak - The objective of the project was to rebrand Amtrak with an emphasis on economy. I chose a very simple redesign of the logo. Through healthier choices on their menu and an Amtrak exercise regiment, the daily commute could become the first step on a journey to a better life. I set out to communicate this through the logo by literally cutting it in half. The redesign is fifty percent thinner than the original logo.
The ThreadShop - During my internship at Sony I was given an opportunity to redesign the logo for one of their clothing lines. I wanted my redesign to capture the rough quality of the brand. Many of their graphics use distressed borders to achieve a certain look and feel. I picked the typeface, Abilene, for its letterpress quality. A lot of record labels under Legacy Recordings use similar language in their logos.
Purple magazine - Purple is the logo for a fictional political magazine which hosts views from the left and the right side of the aisle. I used saturated reds and blues for the logo as a visual barometer. Depending on the issue, the colors would shift between the two extremes and give the viewer an indication on that month’s stance. Purple’s target demographic was younger people between the age of 25 to 35. It was important to me that I the colors and the type stay bright and visually engaging.
