Scivolare Mandoline Slicer

Scivolare (Italian for “slice”) is a kitchen tool for slicing large amounts of food into thin slices. It’s a revision of the traditional mandoline slicer, which serves the same purpose, but in a more dangerous configuration. With a traditional mandoline slicer, users slide the food to be cut back and forth across the blade platform, endangering their fingers. With Scivolare, a user rests his or her hand on the wood top platform, clear of the blade, while the food rests on the sliding tray below. The user’s other hand grasps the white handle and slides the blade tray back and forth, slicing the food.
The wood parts are CNC milled, the white handle and knob are 3D printed, and the logos were sandblasted through laser-cut masks.
