Noble House Lobby Glass Sculpture

This completed NWS piece sits above the Noble House lobby in Jakarta, Indonesia. The principle components are glass, stainless steel and aircraft cable, which includes the sculpture fabric itself, as well as the structural interface within the building structure.

Being the largest NWS piece built to date (40m in length), the challenge was not in the design but the scale. A whole new system was required, which included a re-think in many areas of development and installation.

This piece also required more digital thinking in order to stay true to the initial design. One of the major aspects was massaging of huge sections of the sculpture that required a center spine (effectively a hinge joint). Maintaining the sculpture flow and accent features without distortion was continuously challenging.

This project was shipped from San Francisco to Jakarta as single tubes and so site time was increased for fabrication.
