Chatsworth Dining Room Glass Sculpture

This completed NWS piece sits above a dining room table in a private residence in Singapore. The principle components are glass, stainless steel and aircraft cable, which includes the sculpture fabric, as well as the structural interface within the building structure.

With the piece being so tightly woven, each section must nest within its neighbor to create multiple layers of sculptural fabric which, when struck with light, create complex visual arrays. To achieve this density, each section of each piece was unique to the next, meaning that every single tube was one of a kind. This meant a highly bespoke fabrication methodology starting virtually, with the creation of unique molds. These would then be fabricated and used to mold the glass, sometimes over multiple firings.

This project was shipped from San Francisco to China in its various sections, this meant that the installation methodology required many hours of thought, preparation and testing.
