Borgata Reception Glass Sculpture
This completed NWS piece sits above the reception area in the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The principle components are glass, stainless steel and aircraft cable, which includes the sculpture fabric itself, as well as the structural interface sitting within the building structure.
The complexity in a piece like this comes from the navigation of its own loops and extremities, while maintaining smooth curves throughout. NWS sculptures are sculpted by the suspension cables, meaning that without them, the piece is lifeless and flat. Constant attention from the ground is required as visual information is relayed to the finishing team, who make the final cable amends.
90% of installation preparation is desk based helping to cut down on site time and the inevitable problem solving.
