Wooden stool

Year: Second
Genre: Wood carpentry
Course: Product design 3 - Form and material

The given task in PD-3 was to make a wooden stool able to withstand a load of 100 kg. The stool should be made from nothing but wooden planks. Plywood was illegal and the only allowed joints were glue and wooden plugs.

I decided to use the traditional Norwegian carpenter technique of lafting. This project was an exiting eye opener of working with organic material, and the realisation of the material living its one life was unavoidable. My stool is still alive in the bedroom of my mom and dad back home.

This was also modelled and rendered in the applied modelling class third year.
