Faroe Islands Collection 2009
This work results from an investigation into vernacular architecture, a term used to describe buildings constructed with locally available resources, to suit local needs and often built by the people who inhabit them. The places reflect the landscape, the culture of a society and the historical contexts in which they exist. An interest in green roofs, led me to the Faroe Islands and in my weaving, I am trying to capture the color and light of this strange place. I am interested in making textiles that can become a part of the setting and the story.
