Union Foundation
The Philadelphia Union set up a registered 501c3 Foundation in 2012. The Union are proud to call Chester home. From their mission statement: "The Foundation believes there are enormous challenges to youth in our cities. The Foundation uses soccer as a conduit for change by reinforcing the traditional family values of honesty, integrity, effort and accountability. It is our aim to have a positive impact on these children with respect to their character development, academic performance and physical well-being. " The Union crest has a comprehensive historical narrative, so when it came time to design the identity, we wanted something that worked alongside it in a clean and simple way. Going back to the birth of the union we decided to use the circle of 13 stars from the Betsy Ross flag. This would be our key anchor in allowing us to be expressive within the identity program.
