Hatchet - for adventure tourism 1 - Most common obstacles are often inaccessible from land, placed on the middle of the river or in thick undergrowth. Typically they must be dealt with from the kayak/raft/canoe. The most useful tools in such situations are the hatchet, pick or saw often not adapted to use near and in water and thus subject to rust, loosening of parts, slippery handling, sinking etc. Unhandy, ineffective, bad "multi functional" tools often make the adventure tourist defenceless against nature's forces.
Hatchet - for adventure tourism 2 - Hatchet features: Elastic blade protector prevent person, covers and luggage from damage. Bottom part of the butt protector socket helps to keep blade protector safe from damage or loss. In addition it is possible to tie it in several ways. Narrow, lighter blade - helpful when cutting among the thicket is also easier in use to women. Soft rubber handle sleeve prevents wet-softened skin from abrasion, contrary to coarse anti-slippery surfaces of other tools.
Hatchet - for adventure tourism 3 - A buoy on the short length strap helps with location of the hatchet when in the water, even with significant bottom muddiness. Shape of the hatchet-head neck, supports the butt, prevents it from working loose. Lack of top blade corner - which causes a significant threat for covers of kayak/raft (rubber, canvas) and shell of the canoe when falling, in comparison to the bottom blade corner - useful for sticking it into the wood when there is no place to put it away.
