Home Hemo-Dialysis Unit - This sophisticated medical device needed to adapt to the home setting. This presented challenges in transportability, intuitiveness, and aesthetics. Rhino renderings were used to refine the design in client meetings before a full-scale prototype was constructed for trade show applications. The model is painted Strux foam, powder coated steel accents, and an internal aluminum frame.
Propeller exhibit - This unique display showcases a recreation of a Wright brothers' propeller. Hand-carved in stages, to illustrate the steps involved, this replica prop stands over eight feet tall. The case is covered with educational panels as well as antique tools. The initial Illustrator concept was then refined in Rhino. Graphics were created with Illustrator; the case is solid and veneered red oak and painted MDF.
Various- Stone Construction Equipment Inc. - Developed several products in Stone's equipment line including; a material hauling buggy, asphalt rollers, and a compacting plate. Incorporating a rugged aesthetic with safety and operator comfort was important to Stone. At design review meetings, Stone's marketing and engineering staff were presented with renderings and illustrations like these, to decide on project direction. Illustrator was used in initial concept drawings before moving to CAD. Renderings were created with Rhino, Flamingo, and Photoshop.
1/12 scale model of Kodak’s Picture Planet - Picture Planet is a traveling exhibit that is housed in an expanding tractor-trailer. The model was used for marketing purposes. We were responsible for translating the full size exhibit into the 1/12th scale promotional model, complete with an interactive LED call-out system. Ren, polystyrene and aluminum were used in the construction. Paint and vinyl graphics were applied to finish.
Various - These projects were completed while attending RIT. Clockwise from upper left; Digital Binoculars, Task Chair, Garden Hose, and an Office Printer. Although at a conceptual level, these projects all represent thorough investigations into product development. Areas of concentration included; human factors, target market research, technological innovation, and manufacturability. Materials for these models include painted Ren, Strux, and Polystyrene.
